ReportingOn – mikroblogging for journalister

ReportingOn.com is a simple way for journalists to update their peers on the stories they’re working on right now. Tag your 140-character-or-less updates with the beat you’re on, and find peers reporting on similar beats to make connections, introduce yourself to potential mentors, or discover an unsung hero.

We’re giving away around $5 million in 2009 for the development and distribution of neighborhood and community-focused projects, services, and programs.

If you have a great idea that will improve local online news, deepen community engagement, bring Web 2.0 tools to local neighborhoods, develop publishing platforms and standards to support local conversations or innovate how we visualize, experience or interact with information, we’d like to see it! You have the opportunity to win funding for your project and support within a vibrant community of media, tech, and community-oriented people who want to improve the world.

  1. Thanks, Lars! I’m sorry I don’t speak Danish, but I’ll bear with the Google translation on this one.

I never got that far in Drupal; I experimented with it and decided that Django would be best for this project. I use Drupal a lot for other projects related to launching blogs for other people.

I *highly* recommend getting involved in the Knight News Challenge program to anyone truly interested in helping their community get the news and information they deserve.

  2. Hi Ryan

The Google Translate isn’t quite spot it, but it gets close enough so you can understand it :-)

I’ll be sure to look more into the Knight News Challenge. I hadn’t seen it mentioned anywhere before but it looks very interesting!
